Biography

Courtney Fathom Sell was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1985. He is a writer, producer, composer and director known for his prolific documentary and experimental film career as well as the psychological thriller DON‛T LET THE DEVIL IN (2016).

Leaving film school after his first semester at age 19, Sell began traveling the country making documentaries with a Hi8 camera, many times broke and homeless. Commonly utilizing the people and places he found himself surrounded by as subjects, Sell's collection of portraits are extremely personal such as his film MY DYING DAY regarding his Father's struggle with cancer and  NO PLACE LIKE HOME which is centered around his best friend whose Gulf Coast home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Sell co-directed the award winning short documentary THE HOLE, which was featured in Newsweek Magazine and has since been archived at the Brooklyn Historical Society. Over the years, his essays regarding DIY Filmmaking have been published by "Filmmaker Magazine" & "indieWIRE" and his novel "Exorcism Pharmacy - Tales of No Budget Filmmaking" was published in 2016. Sell continues to travel the world making films, music and writing.
