Biography

Elle Burchill is an artist, writer, and curator. She is inspired by the unexpected and accidental, and her works often explore the fragility of our bodies and circumstances. Her videos have screened at Anthology Film Archives, New York, Bronx Museum of Art, New York, Issue Project Room, Brooklyn, Light Industry, Brooklyn, Harvard Film Archives, Cambridge, MA; Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archives, Berkeley, CA, and many others. Solo and survey presentations of her work have appeared at Millennium Film Workshop, New York; Robert Beck Memorial Cinema at Participant Inc, New York; and others.

Her works have exhibited at Academia di Bella Arti di Brera, Milan, Italy; Contemporary Art Center (CAC) Vilnius, Lithuania; Director’s Lounge, Berlin, Germany; Kunstverein Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Sudlab, Naples, Italy; and White Box, New York; among others.

Elle Burchill was born in Pittsburgh, PA and is based in Brooklyn, New York, where since 2007 she has also worked as a video editor for Jonas Mekas and, since 2010, as co-founder/co-director, along with Andrea Monti, of Microscope Gallery.
