COYOTE (1997) DVD NTSC, color, 17:07 min

Genre: Documentary, Experimental

Keywords: Ethnic/Multicultural

COYOTE is an invocation of the many shady, shifting forms of Coyote, wide dog, Trickster, and smuggler, told in a style that mimics his multifarious shape. COYOTE abandons unified visual style. The narrative is fractured, a blend of documentary and fiction, contradictory voices, myths, and lies. Through a discontinuity between images, between image and text, between textual voices; through a clash of human and non-human voices, fixed meaning is undermined. Contradiction, displacement and disruption force the viewer's participation. Text and image drift in and out of moments of relative, subjective synchronicity. A reading ascribed to a given image will dissolve with the change of accompanying text. As meaning becomes contingent on viewer and context, authorship shifts from video-maker to collective process. COYOTE is an accumulated cacophony of evidence fragments where meanings coagulate in the resonant harmonics of the various voices.

Suite of Summer Evenings (2008) DVD NTSC, color, 22 min

Genre: Documentary, Experimental

Keywords: Ethnic/Multicultural, landscape and architecture

In lyric, observational from, Suite of Summer Evenings conjures a landscape of languid yet energized evenings, carnival night with the coughing cars of dirt track auto racing in rural upstate New York. Crafted as a suite of four distinct movements, the piece is redolent of tones and moods. Immersed in ambient landscape, sound and image are symbiotic, each sense massaged with timber and textures, evoking a place that is simultaneously mythic and quotidian; a renowned composer Earl Howard, using natural crowd and track recordings, caress and drive the images. Suite of Summer Evenings has screened in VideoEx, Zurich; The Strange Beauty Film Festival; Experiments in Cinema V4.2; The Iowa International Documentary Film Festival; and at Mass. Art Film Society.

Tramontana (2011) DVD NTSC, color, 8:23 min

Genre: Documentary, Experimental

Keywords: landscape and architecture

Lyric dance poem to extol and embrace the Tramontana winds of northern Spain. Increasingly, with my own work, I'm as interested in sound and acoustic temporality as I am in light and visual textures. Tramontana is meant as an equivalent of wind... a gusting, rattling, ebbing, fluctuating event. The layered tracks of stochastic sounds push against the images. Sound and image, on a-synchronous, arrhythmic paths, make Later, things start to settle.
