El hombre de posguerra. Trilogía. Estudio sobre el movimiento / Post war man. Trilogy. Study about movement. (2014-2017) digital file, 8 mm, color, 3-4 min

Genre: Documentary, Experimental

Keywords: arts & artists, environment & nature , philosophical , political & social activism, queer/bi/trans, structural

The trilogy Study about movement explores the tensions that occur between figures, forms and color when summed together in layers, in an almost chancy way. The work tries to capture the vital and invisible forces, the pure movement, as the one present in a sensation.  I chose two main tools to work with: the overexposure of layers in the same negative film and the use of primary colors. Post war man is the third work done under these premises. In this case, the exploration has been about bodies in movement, about the forces that one makes towards the other, the friction between meat and bones, against a predominantly red background. During the shot of this short film I was reading “Logic of sensation” by Deleuze. This inspired me to work with male bodies in contact, may be in a wrestle, may be in a dance, mixed together with the emblematic painting "Three studies for figures at the base of a crucifixion" by Francis Bacon. I believe this work is still in progress since I would like to intervene it, by painting the film with a thick layer of paint that would partly cover the image below it. River bank and Tides are the other works that complete this trilogy.

Tides is the second part of the trilogy. Water never dies, always transforms itself, rebirths in rivers, bodies, oceans. Huge, kneads its potential energy in the permanence of movement. River Bank and Post war man are the other two works that complete the Trilogy.

In this work I counterpoised the movement, light and color of two different spaces that are being seen by the same observer. A trip to Delta del Tigre, Buenos Aires and a highway trip. Both melt under an extreme slow motion of the images. Post War man and Tides are the following works of the trilogy.

"A walker understands gradually that he does not know much about the turbulent and airy flow of the spirit. Or he is incapable of defining it. Nevertheless, he connects with it every time he discovers that his own person constitutes a fragile material structure in the hands of nature’s fluctuations, far from social intermediaries. However, he adapts his definition of “natural” to the changes of his own mind: today is freezing because I freeze, tomorrow the sun burns because I dry out". Fragment of "The book of Haiku" by Alberto Silva.

Eleven filmmakers and a sound artist construct "String Theory", a film far from conventional narration. This film has been done under two single premises: Using the images with total aesthetic and narrative freedom and having the pre-existing and unchangeable soundtrack as a trigger. The result of this experiment is a film in episodes, and heterogeneous web of new and appropriated images that form unity in multiplicity. Images of Human affected by time passing, it's relationship with nature, Science and Cosmos.
The Physics theory which the film is named after brings a different perspective to the comprehension and perception of our environment. Therefore, the film attempts to find multiple ways for film narrative, production and watching. "String Theory" does not aim at finding a single meaning, but on the contrary, establishes a web of associations that goes far beyond a rational or causal interpretation. Here is where the perception of each viewer finds signals from which it can construct its own vision.
