Mushroom Seekers (2002-2011) DVD NTSC, color, 55 min

Genre: Documentary, Experimental

Keywords: environment_nature, ethnic_multicultural

MUSHROOM SEEKERS is both documentary and diary of the filmmaker's introduction to wild mushrooms. The video journeys through the Czech Republic, where picking wild mushrooms is the "national pastime"; the United States, where the activity is unusual and somehow left to the experts; and Mexico, where a sacred practice is both protected from the view of the profane and yet commodified. This reflection on cultures and nature through the lens of mushroom picking looks to a "different kind of education". Ultimately, this video's walk through the woods is a journey of lives.
