A diaristic meditation on how my queer identity and masculinity have been both shaped and suppressed by consumerism, militarism, pop culture, and audiovisual heritage. The film combines personal footage shot on 16mm in 2018 with found footage and audio from 1950s/’60s men’s grooming and shaving commercials, homophobic and sexist “educational” films from the same era, and WWII newsreels and propaganda.
