George Griffin

Thicket (1985) 16mm, color, 10.5 min

Genre: Animation, Experimental

"In this most recent of George Griffin's animations, the solitary and searching figure of a man journeys through a dreamlike landscape. He briefly finds love in the form of a woman, then loses her. The plaintive score, 'Berceuse Elegaic' by Ferruccio Busoni, emphasizes the sense of isolation ans loss. Griffin describes the inspiration for the film as an elegy to the unconscious--a story about the corruption of sentiment."--Museum of Modern Art.
