Biography

Fernanda Parrado is a filmmaker and film archivist. Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, she is an Academy Gold alumni and works restoring and cataloging Super 8 and 16mm home movies. Focused on documentary and experimental filmmaking, her super 8 movies Metamorphosis and Bur·i·al got awarded in many international festivals and she is currently teaching classes about the analog medium and the importance of image preservation for underrepresented communities. Bringing more Brazilian voices to the Academy team, she hopes to continue promoting access to archival appropriation as a form of protest and resistance for the Latinx community.
