Biography

IGUANA Collaborative was founded by artists from Michigan, Sherry and John K Erskine and Bonnie Sue Stein. In the 1970s, they created a large volume of videos on analog formats, beginning a lifelong collaboration. IGUANA creates hybrid interdisciplinary works utilizing lens-based media, performance, installation and sound art. By creating multi-layered installations, Erskine + Stein aim to actively engage their audience in viewing photography and video. They are denizens of the new & unusual, itching to ‘make-a-mark’ across borders and social definitions. With support in 2020, 2018 and 2016 from The Mellon Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts through the Bay Area Video Coalition, they preserved and digitized over forty analog videos launching a host of new works. Recent shows: Aesthetica Film Festival 2022, Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival, Dance Films Association and Film at Lincoln Center; ArtPrize Grand Rapids, Everywoman Biennial at Copeland Gallery (UK). Superchief Gallery NFT (NYC), Containall and Galerie VI PER Prague (CZ), La Mama Galleria, Art in Odd Places Festivals in 2023, 2021, 2019 in New
