Biography
Mary Bellis, also known as CalmX, was a filmmaker, artist and writer. She received an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and funding from the National Film Board of Canada to create her experimental works. Her 1984 film Agent of Paradise was shot in the LES art scene starred downtown performance artists, including John Kelly, The Alien Comic, and Philly McAninch. Agent of Paradise premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and screened in art house theaters worldwide. She was a founding member of New York’s first digital art gallery, Mission Graphics.
