Biography

Born in Montevideo Uruguay in 1983. Visual artist independent photographer and contemporary photography critic. Lives and works in Montevideo, Uruguay. She has a degree in Arts from Université Paris VIII Vincennes-Saint-Denis and a degree in Communication from Udelar.

De León studied photography with Óscar Bonilla and Diego Vidart in Montevideo and specialized in black and white laboratory and ancient techniques at Center Iris, Paris, and Penumbra Foundation, New York.

Since 2011 de León has been a member of the Contemporary Art Foundation (fac) in Montevideo, and she collaborates with analysis texts on photography and contemporary art in Dossier Magazine, and other Uruguayan publications.

Since 2009 de León has participated in national and international artistic shows and actions. In 2013 she participated in the first exhibition of Contemporary Photography "In the place of the Said", curated by José Antonio Navarrete. She was selected at the 2013 Paul Cézanne Prize and the 2014 Visual Arts National Prize. In 2016 she participated in "X Mulier Mulieris" at the University of Alicante Museum.
