In partnership with the Film-Makers’ Cooperative
New Jersey-based experimental filmmaker and video artist Gregg Biermann introduces a survey of his works completed over the last decade. Often incorporating footage from Hollywood classics like the Wizard of Oz (1939), Rear Window (1954), and North by Northwest (1959), Biermann’s work takes advantage of the abilities of digital cinema to advance rigorous compositional strategies. Join Biermann for a Q&A session following the screenings, which feature films from Happy Again (2006) to Scenes from the Anthropocene(2017) and New York Gradual (2018).
Gregg Biermann’s work has been exhibited internationally, including in exhibitions at Anthology Film Archives, Documentary Film Society at the University of Chicago, Millennium, Pacific Film Archive, and the San Francisco Cinematheque. He collaborates with electronic music composer and performer Ron Mazurek on real-time music and video performances. Biermann has taught at Barat College, Horizons: the New England Craft Program, and is currently a professor of art at Bergen Community College.
