Description

Join us at Millennium Film Workshop on Saturday, November 1st, from 5pm-11pm, for an evening of films and reminiscences honoring the lives and legacies of Ken and Flo Jacobs, titans of the avant-garde and founding members of our organizations.

Ken and Flo Jacobs, who died just months apart this year, were beloved and essential pioneers of New York’s avant-garde film world. Partners in art and life, they created an incomparable body of work, and were mentors, teachers, and inspirations for countless artists. Their legacy includes two film organizations that are still thriving. They were part of the group that launched The Film-Makers’ Cooperative in 1961, and in 1966, they co-founded the Millenium Film Workshop.

Millennium and the FMC will co-present an open-house celebration of Ken and Flo Jacobs, on Saturday, November 1st, from 5:00 to 11:00 p.m. The evening, with free admission to all, will include screenings and time for remembrances and remarks by attendees. All are invited to bring food and drink to share.

Among the films to be screened, all from The Film-Makers’ Cooperative collection, are The Whirled, Blonde Cobra, Little Stabs at Happiness, Soft Rain, Perfect Film, Nissan Ariana Window, Seeking the Monkey King, and The Day Was a Scorcher. Filmmaker Fred Reidel will also present his feature-length documentary Ken Jacobs–From Orchard Street to the Museum of Modern Art.

This event is free to attend and open to the public.
