The Car1983

The story of a lonely man and his obsession with a new car. He discovers the joys of being in the driver's seat, but also confronts the dangers in himself. THE CAR is a short, animated film created by some very talented high school art students from Edwardsville, Illinois. Led by Chris Goehe, the only crew member with a film background, the students created everything needed for cel-animated film. Backgrounds, scripts, storyboards, an animation table, and even punching their own cels was part of the hard work Chris Goehe, John Hathfield, and Jim Dean experienced in putting THE CAR on film. Supervised by Dennis Detroye, head of the art department, these students worked over a year and a half to make THE CAR into a finished product. –C. G.
