A cameraless 16mm film inspired by Joan Mitchell’s Hemlock (1956). 16mm footage was first bleached, then scratched and painted directly onto with Indian ink, alongside newspaper and mixtures of coffee, salt, vinegar, and lemon. The film is a material response to Mitchell’s painting, translating its gestural energy into texture and movement on celluloid.
