Biography
Camilo Barria, born 1973, is an independent American filmmaker who lives and works in California. He crafts fragmented on-location visual journals, exploring the poetical interplay between images to develop layers of meaning rather than its surrogation to the written word, blending fiction and documentary outside the formal linear structures and closer to an architectural palimpsest. Born to Chilean political activists, he grew up in exile, and his early experiences with displacement and alienation shaped his identity and vision. His work has been screened at American Cinematheque's This Is Not A Fiction, Analogica, Martovski Film Festival,
New Jersey Film Festival, Videodrome, Kinoskop, and Millennium Film Workshop.
