Biography
Recognized for his DIY attitude and prolific creative output, Sell’s work has been featured in Newsweek, Filmmaker Magazine & indieWire among many other publications. Launching his career at the age of 18, where he would travel the entire United States with his Hi8 video camera documenting all that he saw around him, his work quickly developed a trademark lo-fi aesthetic for his inspiring portraits of individuals overcoming all odds. In his early years, Sell worked in numerous genres ranging from shorts, horror, comedy, music videos and experimental films. However, his passion for documentary filmmaking would quickly become the most prominent focus of his eclectic cinematic career. He is the first filmmaker to have cinematic material archived and preserved at the Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles.
