Biography
M. Woods (born 1988, NYC) is a Latino media terrorist working in avant-garde
strategies often using immersive time-spectacle and constructed trances. His film work is distributed by Collectif Jeune Cinema, Light Cone, the Oberhausen International Film Festival, and the Filmmaker’s Coop.
Since 2011 he has released dozens of movies, the foundation of a practice that also includes installation design, painting, photography, VR, bookmaking, performance, direct actions, and conspiracy theory.
Woods' work chronicles the spread of the Numb Spiral, the results of a digital sickness that manifests itself in the codification and symbolic negation of being. His work is a fashioned attack against the institutional structures of white supremacy and the alpha
male fantasy.
Disassociative Productions toured Europe, the US, Canada, and South America in 2018-2019, and continues to organize with the avant-garde collective, Agitate [21C]. Other exhibitions include: IFFR, the Flaherty Seminar, Oberhausen International Film Festival, VideoEx, Hamburg International Short Film Festival, the Royal Society of British Artists, with retrospectives at Lausanne Underground Film Festival and Cámara Lúcida.
Graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (BFA) and the recipient of the Erna Plachte Award from the Ruskin School of Art at the University of Oxford (MFA).
