Historia Natural: Songs and Films by Plinio

On Friday, July 18th, at 7:30pm, The Film-Makers' Cooperative and Millennium Film Workshop co-present a program of Super 8mm films set to live music by multimedia artist Pablo Eguìa, who performs under the name Plinio.
Historia Natural is a travelogue show, comprised of Super 8mm films projected and accompanied by live music. This program, a hybrid between an intimate concert and a film program, is all the work of Pablo Eguìa, who performs under the name Plinio. These films are about brief, simple, moments of clarity, and they're given context in conversaton with Plinio's songs, which deal with incantations, folklore, love affairs and mythological scenes.
Pablo Eguía is a filmmaker and musician based in between New York and Madrid. As Plinio, he has published the albums Historia Natural (2024) and Lo más bien (2021). He works for the oral histories project Artifacts Movie Archive, researching New York downtown art scenes of the 1970s, and teaches filmmaking at Mono No Aware. In 2024, he co-filmed on 16 mm the piece You Never Did Anything Wrong, Part 1 by Nan Goldin.
