Screening
XCXHXEXRXRXIXEXSX Premiere at Roxy Cinema, Ken Jacobs In Person
FMC is thrilled to partner with Roxy Cinema and the Museum of Sex to premiere Ken Jacobs recent film XCXHXEXRXRXIXEXSX.
The carnal screen is a monthly screening of films from the collection of the Film-Makers’ Cooperative. In collaboration with the Museum of Sex and the Roxy Cinema, this series focuses on an alternative image of the body, of sex, and of intimacy – images that are about individuality and freedom of expression, rather than standardization and profit. They present truthful depictions of a vital part of human nature; they facilitate the cathartic release of repressed anxieties; and they allow us to think critically and engage in serious conversations about the complex political issues that surround representations of sexuality in contemporary society.
The series begins Sunday, January 30th at 3pm with the worldwide premiere of visionary filmmaker Ken Jacob’s XCXHEXRXRXIXEXSX (1980). Based on a performance piece from the 1980s with his wife, Flo, Jacobs has transformed the physical performance into a 3D, phantasmagorical feature-length film using his eternalism technique. A Q&A with Ken Jacobs to follow the screening.
Curated by MM (Mary Magdalene) Serra, Eve Arballo and Roxy Cinema.
