Screening
On Wednesday, October 2nd, at 7pm, join us at the FMC Screening Room (475 Park Avenue South, 6th Floor) for a newly acquired 16mm print of Zoe Beloff's NIGHTMARE ANGEL, presented by Robert Schneider and Philomena Mattes!
The Film-Makers' Cooperative is excited to present a newly acquired 16mm print of Nightmare Angel, Zoe Beloff’s rarely-screened early adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s seminal novel Crash, made nine years before David Cronenberg adapted it into a feature. Drawing also from Ballard’s The Atrocity Exhibition, Nightmare Angel follows a couple in the aftermath of a car crash, exploring the dark possibilities of machine as extension of the body and how a rapidly changing techno-industrial landscape can rework our innermost selves and desires.
The 33-minute film will be followed by a conversation between filmmaker Zoe Beloff and curator (and Ballard enthusiast) Robert Schneider.
