About
Rocking Chair is a response to Vladimir Tatlin’s ability to reference the two dimensionality of traditional painting with a three dimensional sculpture mounted on the wall. I wanted to try and address the simultaneity of those sculptures through film. With four separate shots of friends in a rocking chair I broke up the rocking motion into four segments allowing each figure to travel through filmic space in four parts. The result is an attempt to reference 16mm film’s ability to render somewhat accurate depth while remaining a two dimensional projected image.
