Street Solo By Chance2016

My friend and dancer, Kayla, and I got together to make something that incorporated Merce Cunningham's chance method. We activated an unused triangle in the middle of the road that was mysteriously cordoned off with orange cones. If a car passed on the left, if a truck appeared, if a vehicle was a certain color, and so on, each event would trigger a specific dance phrase. I captured her performance as a reimagination of how one can interact with the urban environment.
