Time Portrait
About
"Originally conceived as a formal extension of a multiple-image still photoraphy study using as subject matter my close friends ... planned to involve single-layer superimpositions of nonhuman, textural objects as complimentary to human action images... apparent acting is totally undirected and faithfully recorded to avoid personal interpretation of a character (who had only) a terse list of physical place/movements when the camera was running. All persons in the film were those with whom I was personally involved during the making of the film... edited in a three-part structure, roughly coincident with the three sound unites each a different presentation of projected attitudes and defenses evolving through a general structure of an unsatisfying affair. A number of confusions between personalities and images are introduced to indicate the overall lack of confidence of the protagonist and the resultant association of fabric and fabrication intentions became subordianted to my personal involvement with documenting processes, which I am still exploring."
