AMAZONIA is inspired by the three South American myths about the tropical rainforest and its unique inhabitants. The first myth is based on the Orinoco creation cycle; the second tells the story of the turtle trickster, hero of the rainforest; and in the final myth, we learn from Paye (a shaman) the imperatives of preserving what is left of the tropical rainforest and the indigenous people who dwell in harmony with their environment.
