Red2021

Red was made during the Covid-19 lockdown, and meant as a kind of spiritual sequel to Derek Jarman's Blue. The idea for Red was initially given to me by Derek himself. Red consists of a blank screen presented in a full cinematic aspect ratio, a single indelible and unforgettable non-image on to which the audience may project whatever their imaginations may desire. The soundtrack consists of a complex interplay of words and music. The dialogue is written for three distinct voices, but each is really the singular voice of the writer. Starring Georgia Mackenzie, Julian Firth and Preshia Paulding.
