I Don't Think I'll Destroy Myself This Winter

About
A small Super 8mm creation, filmed during the first snow of 2024 in New York and captured from within my home and surrounding environs. An attempt at tapping into the quiet rhythms and subdued beauty of the season, reflective of my own unexpected feelings of inner peace during an otherwise dreary time of year. Sources of inspiration include Jonas Mekas' diary films, the flicker films of Paul Sharits, and works like Marie Menken's Glimpse of the Garden (1957). The music is "From the city / Toward the city" from Swami Kriya Ramananda's 1982 album In the Garden.
Official Selection: Non Films' "Dark Room" Screening and Salon (Brooklyn, NY; June 25, 2024). New York Premiere: Millennium Film Workshop (March 29, 2023).
